Juniors Programme Summer 2010

Start time is now 9.45am with sport beginning at 10am. Various sports will now be played and not just football. At times Seniors will join the Juniors for particular activities and excursions. Juniors are for 10 to 12 years olds. Each week one or two dads will be invited to attend to help out in the organisation and supervision of activities. Older members are welcome to come and assist in the leadership too. Helpers and dads will receive appropriate training.

For 10-12 year olds, Saturdays 9.45am to 1pm

April

Saturday 17th

Gangster Movie Productions: Scripting. Today we will watch a gangster film and at the end discuss ideas for our own production.

Saturday 24th

Gangster Movie Productions: Prop-making. Preparing all the props for next week’s filming session.

May

Saturday 1st

Gangster Movie Productions: Shooting. Everything will be ready for another Juniors’ film production. Make sure you are part of it.

Saturday 8th

Premiere of the Gangster Movie with an awards ceremony. Beforehand, we will go on the traditional May pilgrimage to a local shrine of Our Lady.

Saturday 15th

Kelston Factor. A variety of mind games and challenges to test your abilities, with a paper plane competition thrown in.

Saturday 22nd

Engineering Challenge. A team engineering competition today, but keep an eye open for any cranes for inspiration!

Saturday 29th May to Tuesday 1st June

The Kelston Juniors’ Summer Camp at High Ashurst Outdoor Activity Centre in Dorking. Pickup full details on a separate sheet or on the Web.

June

Saturday 5th

World Cup Warm-up. Watch videos of top World Cup goals, make predictions for winners, and a skills and penalty-shootout competition.

Saturday 12th

Summer Sports Day. Following the success of last year’s event, we will hold another dual session of cricket and volleyball.

Saturday 19th

Laser Quest in Croydon, by popular demand! Leave at 10am and back at 1pm. Bring £5 and a travel card, or money for the train.

Saturday 26th

All the family are invited to the Public Mass of St Josemaria in central London in the morning.

July

Saturday 3rd

All-Day Excursion to Box Hill. Leaving at 10am and back at 4pm. Bring a packed lunch, rough clothes and £4.40 for the train.

Saturday 10th

Frisbee-football Competition. This will be the third annual tournament, aiming to match the action in tomorrow’s World Cup Final.

Saturday 17th

It’s-a-Knockout Competition. Get ready for fun with water balloons! Bring sports clothes to get wet.

Club Mentoring For Juniors and Seniors, all members will be assigned a leader or helper for fortnightly mentoring. This will be an informal short conversation on how they are benefiting from Kelston and offering help and motivation in their studies and personal development.

Wednesday Study Club The Study Club is for members of all ages. Come after school and stay as long as you wish to complete your homework or revision.
