Paris
_____________

numberplate

A short visit to Paris with a good chance to practise French, as well as immersing oneself in the rich culture of one of the world’s great cities.

We left early on Monday morning, catching the ferry across the Channel and then driving down to Paris. We were back at Kelston in good time to celebrate the New Year at home. We climbed the EiffelTower, visited the Louvre and Notre Dame, and explored the Champs Elysée, Montmartre and La Défense.

Lake District

_

We camped at Wasdale Head in the Lake District. The campsite is at one end of the deepest lake in England and at the foot of the tallest mountain,Scafell Pike. It is a stunning location from where to set out on different activities around the Lake District, including swimming, horse-riding, canoeing and hiking.

High Ashurst Junior Camp
_________________________________

Kelston’s Juniors Camp takes place at the Outdoor Education Centre run by Surrey County Council called High Ashurst, at the top of Box Hill, Mickleham, Dorking, Surrey. The Kelston group is under the supervision of Kelston leaders but all professional instruction is given by High Ashurst staff. We camp in large tents provided by the centre and we look after our own cooking. It is a fabulous location and we are pleased to team up with the High Ashurst staff.

Camino de Santiago
__________________________

Since the Middle Ages people have walked the Camino de Santiago, a famous pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela in North West Spain. Along the route there are hostels or Refugios where the pilgrims can spend the night. A group from Kelston walked the Camino in late July 2008. As well as a great opportunity to participate in this traditional pilgrimage, they raised sponsorship in order to raise money for the Kelston Project.

Dartmoor
________________________

Dartmoor is a great place offering a wide range of outdoor activities. Among other things, we explore WoodlandsAdventurePark, go horse-riding and spend a day at the beach. There’s plenty of opportunities for sports and even a bit of culture. We stay at Ivybridge, near Plymouth.

Intensive Study Week

This is an ideal opportunity to leave behind the usual distractions at home and concentrate on exam preparations within an atmosphere of intense study. The timetable guarantees a high number of hours to study each day, with breaks to help keep the mind fresh and alert.

Poland Work Camp
___________________________
_

We flew to Krakow in Poland and then travelled by train to Przemysl, just a few miles from the Ukrainian border. We were one of several groups of young people helping with this project throughout July and August.
